Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on 04/17/2017, Sgt. R. Sherrill along with other members of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team (ACE) were working in the area of Salisbury Highway when Sherrill witnessed a green Honda sedan make a traffic violation. Sherrill activated his emergency lights in attempt to make a traffic stop on the vehicle but it continued on to Third Creek Road. The vehicle then turned onto Palmer Lane where it stopped.
Deputy’s approached the vehicle to investigate and found that the driver, Kenneth Jerome Dulin had a suspended license. While speaking with Dulin, Deputy’s noticed that the rear seat passenger, Tyrone Pernell Chambers reaching into his clothing. The Deputy’s then witnessed Chambers retrieve a semi-automatic 9mm handgun from his waistband and drop it into the floorboard between his feet.
Deputy’s detained all occupants in the vehicle. A computer check revealed that Chambers was a convicted Felon for selling cocaine and also armed robbery. Chambers was arrested for Carrying a concealed weapon and Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Chambers received a $25,000 secured bond from an Iredell County Magistrate.
While attempting to detain Dulin, he became aggressive and pulled away from Sherrill. Dulin was arrested and charged with resisting a public officer, he received a $500 secured bond.
The remaining passenger, Courtney Deshawn Bradshaw was found to have outstanding warrants for his arrest and was also taken into custody.
All three suspects are repeat offenders and have extensive criminal histories to include drug convictions, robbery, weapons charges and assaults on law enforcement. The investigation is still ongoing and more charges are expected.
