Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: members of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (A.C.E) Team had received numerous complaints about the possibility of drugs being sold in the area of Green Meadow Lane and Jane Sowers Road.
Deputies set up surveillance and identified Layton Charles Jenkins as the suspect. On April 14th 2017 deputies observed what they thought to be a drug deal take place on Green Meadow Lane in front of Mr. Jenkins residence. Deputies then went to speak with Mr. Jenkins and could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from a playhouse behind the residence. Deputies located Mr. Jenkins in the playhouse who consented to a search. Deputies located over 50 grams of marijuana, almost 10 grams of Butane Hash Oil "BHO" or “Shatter”, numerous items of drug paraphernalia commonly seen with the sale of illegal drugs such as plastic baggies and digital scales, and alcohol.
Deputies arrested Mr. Jenkins and charged him Possession with Intent to Sale and Deliver Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Sale and Deliver Sch. VI (BHO), Felony Possession of Marijuana, Felony Maintain a Place for the Sale of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drugs Paraphernalia, and Underage Possession of Alcohol. Mr. Jenkins was served outstanding warrants for his arrest for Simple Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Sch. IV (Xanax), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Mr. Jenkins was taken before the Magistrate where he received a $30,000 secured bond. Mr. Jenkins has been convicted of Assault with a Deadly Weapons and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in the past.
