[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested for selling drugs near school

Sheriff Darren E. Campbell stated: On Thursday February 23, 2017 members of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at 113 Steam Engine Drive, Unit 104 in Mooresville.

This investigation began when narcotics investigators received information about marijuana sales occurring in the Mount Mourne area of Southern Iredell County very near the elementary school.

Surveillance operations were established in the area and investigators identified the suspect’s apartment as a location for drug sales. Additional information was obtained which allowed undercover investigators to purchase marijuana from the suspect in his apartment.

Based on the evidence gathered in the investigation, a search warrant was obtained and a search of the home located several firearms, drug paraphernalia, and a substantial amount of marijuana.

 Karl Gerhardt Fleming was arrested at the scene and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with; Three Felony Counts of Selling Controlled Substance within 1000 feet of a School, Three Felony Counts of Maintaining a Dwelling for the Sale of Controlled Substance, Two Felony Counts of Possession with Intent to Sell Marijuana, OneFelony Count of Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Fleming was placed under 20,000.00 dollars secured bond by Magistrate Boyd.
