Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: James Robert Tewell, age 44, of 111 Starwood Drive, Mooresville, NC was arrested on November 26, 2016 for one count of Statutory Rape of a Person age 15 years of Age or Younger. Sheriff’s deputies received a report from a child stating that she had been sexually assaulted by a family member, James Robert Tewell. These assaults occurred on numerous occasions, between 2009 and 2016. After conducting multiple interviews, Detective Justin Carroll charged James Robert Tewell with one count of Statutory Rape of a Person 15 years of Age or Younger. He is currently being held in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $100,000.00 bond.
