Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on 09/21/2015 Deputy David Price of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit attempted to validate an address at 112 Ashley Brook Ln. for Mr. Lenard Cowan, a registered sex offender. Deputy Price noticed immediately upon arrival at the address that it was uninhabited and had been so for some time. Through further investigation Deputy Price was able to learn that Mr. Cowan was wanted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and was avoiding service. Since Mr. Cowan is a registered sex offender and had not notified the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office within 3 business days of moving from 112 Ashley Brook Ln. as required by law, Deputy Price charged him with failing to notify change of address.
On 11/04/2016 Mr. Cowan was located on a traffic stop. He was immediately placed under arrest and turned over to Deputy Holly Bath of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Cowan was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and taken before Magistrate Sanders. He was given a $41,500.00 secured bond on all his charges. Mr. Cowan will be detained until he posts bond or justice is satisfied in this case.
