Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on May 30th 2015 at approximately 4:30 pm while on routine patrol Deputy L.J. Hayes encounter a white male walking in the middle of Turnersburg Hwy near Shumaker Rd.
During the course of Deputy Hayes’s investigation he learned that the male, Mr. Mark Ladeau, was impaired and had been in a domestic dispute with his wife. Deputies tried making telephone contact with Mr. Ladeau’s wife for welfare check but were unsuccessful.
Deputies then gave Mr. Ladeau a ride to his residence at 159 Millstone Dr. in Statesville and while at the residence Mr. Ladeau became belligerent and aggressive towards Deputy Hayes and Deputy Vargas when they started speaking with his wife.
Mr. Ladeau refused to follow the Deputy’s commands and slammed the door of the residence on Deputy Hayes’s hand. When Deputy Hayes tried to arrest Mr. Ladeau he attempted punching Deputy Hayes in the face. A struggle ensued and Deputies were able to get Mr. Ladeau into custody without further incident.
Mr. Ladeau was charged with Assault on a Government Official and Resist Obstruct and Delay an Officer, and was taken before Magistrate S. Boyd where he received a $1,500 unsecured bond.
