Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on September 9th, 2016 Deputies received a call from Mooresville Police Department who were out with a vehicle with three people inside of it and they felt the vehicle was stolen. Deputies made contact with the owner of the vehicle and learned that the 2003 Ford Explorer was in fact stolen. The vehicle was found in possession of Lavarius Patterson and the two juvenile males by Mooresville Police at the intersection of East Brawley Ave and Smith St. While Deputies where on scene speaking with the victim they noticed two bicycles laying across the street in the grass and began canvassing the area. It was found that a total of seven vehicles had been broken into. Deputies also found that a Firearm was taken from one of the vehicles that were broken into. Lavarius and the two Juveniles were then transported to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. Lavarius admitted to the break in’s and stealing the car. Lavarius also admitted to breaking into Sharon’s Flea Market which is a business off of Turnersburg Hwy on 09/24/2016. Lavarius was then transported to the Iredell County Detention Facility and taken before Magistrate charged with, 1 count of Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, 2 counts of Breaking and Entering, 7 Counts of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, 1 count Larceny of a Firearm, 2 Counts of Larceny after Breaking and Entering, 2 counts of Larceny, and 1 count of Attempted Larceny. Lavarius received a $40,000 bond on those charges. More charges are likely.
Both Juveniles were also charged with the same crimes and a secured custody order was granted. One of the juvenile’s is currently on probation. Both of the juvenile’s had recently been charged with similar crimes. Due to their age those charges were forwarded to Juvenile service for further investigation.
