Sheriff Darren Campbell stated the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Statesville man on Friday September 9th and charged him with breaking into his neighbor’s house on at least four separate occasions. Kevin Scott Queen, 41, of 2336 Newton Drive was arrested charged with 4 counts of Breaking and Entering, 2 counts of Larceny of Firearm, 2 counts of Larceny after B&E, and 3 counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses.
The Sheriff’s Office first received a report of a break-in at the Newton Drive residence back in March and a second break-in a few days later. In both break-in’s, guns were stolen from the house while the homeowner was gone to work. Detectives followed up on the cases, but at the time, had no leads or suspects. Over the weekend of Friday September 2nd, the homeowner reported that his house was broken into once again while he was gone to work. This time, tools and hunting equipment were stolen. On the very next day, Saturday September 3rd, the homeowner reported a fourth break-in where his basement was entered by force and more tools were stolen.
Det. Sgt. T. D. Miller was assigned these cases and began an investigation. It was soon discovered that the neighbor who lives across the street, Kevin Scott Queen, had pawned the victim’s stolen items on the same day the items were stolen during the break-ins. Det. Miller also learned Kevin Queen currently had outstanding warrants for violating his probation. Warrants were issued for Kevin Scott Queen and he was located at his home on Friday September 9th, and arrested. Kevin Queen is being held in the Iredell County Jail under a $50,000.00 secured bond for these charges and the outstanding probation charges. Kevin Queen is on probation for drug possession convictions.
