Sheriff Darren Campbell stated the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Fern Hill Rd. in Troutman on Monday afternoon after receiving a 911 call that a person had been stabbed. While responding to the call, Deputies were informed by Emergency Communications that two brothers were fighting and one brother had stabbed the other repeatedly. Before Deputies arrived, the one brother left the scene on a moped traveling toward Troutman. Deputies were given a description of the suspect and the moped and he was located and stopped a few minutes later just north of Troutman on Shelton Ave. Responding Deputies arrived at the scene on Fern Hill Rd. and found the victim had suffered numerous stab wounds to his head, torso and hands. The victim was transported to Iredell Memorial Hospital E.R. by Iredell EMS to be treated for his wounds. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives interviewed the suspect and the victim as well as witnesses at the scene.
The suspect, Jeffery Lamont Moore, 48, of 333 Fern Hill Rd. was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. The victim’s wounds did not appear life threatening at the time of this report and he is expected to recover. Jeffery Lamont Moore is being held in the Iredell County Jail under a $50,000.00 secured bond. Jeffery Moore has previous convictions for Drug Violations, Breaking and Entering and Larceny.
