Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On 6/26/16 at approximately 10:56 hours, Lieutenant Dwayne Christian, Deputy Brock Henderson and Deputy Kevin Hall was dispatched to the 100 block of Country Life Drive, in reference to a subject that had been hit multiple times with a metal pipe and had a knife pulled on him. Once on the scene, Deputy Henderson spoke to Samuel Hancock (victim). He advised deputies that he was on Estate Drive, when an altercation began with Devan Black (suspect). He went onto to say that Devan attacked him with a metal pipe and hit him multiple times in the head area, leaving a severe laceration to the scalp.
Deputies then went to 141 Estate Drive and spoke with Devan. After speaking with him, Devan was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury. Once at the jail, Magistrate Nicholson gave Devan a $100,000 secure bond.
