Sheriff Darren E. Campbell stated: On June 15, 2016, deputies responded to 670 Tabor Rd. in reference to a domestic assault. After Deputies investigated the matter they arrested Kevin Adam Morris, 32, for Assault on a Female. Morris struck the female in her head multiple times. Morris was taken to the Iredell County Jail and was given a bond of $2.500.00
The report was then forwarded to the Special Victims Unit where Deputy Nathan Rash followed up with the victim. Deputy Rash discovered that in the process of the assault the victim attempted two times to call 911 to request emergency assistance. The victim was able to gain access to two different cell phones that were in different locations at the residence. Morris took the phone from her each time and broke the phones to where they were not functional.
Deputy Rash charged Morris with two separate counts of Interfering with Emergency Communications. The victim did not want any charges filed for the damage to her phones.
Morris was arrested and given an additional bond of $3,500.00 for the new charges making Morris’s total bond $6,000.00. Morris has previous convictions in the State of Ohio for Aggravated Burglary, Felonious Assault, and Violation of a Domestic Violence Protection Order.
