Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division concluded a three month long undercover operation with the arrest of Marvin KongVongsay and Sao KongVongxay. The Narcotics Division began receiving information from concerned citizens who live on Mountaineer Drive about possible drug activity on Mountaineer Drive and neighborhoods around Bethesda Road.
The Narcotics Division began conducting surveillance on Mountaineer Dr and around Bethesda Road. After numerous hours of surveillance, Narcotics Detectives identified brothers Marvin KongVongsay and Sao KongVongxay as potential suspects responsible for drug activity in the area.
Eventually, Narcotics Investigators were able to begin making undercover Heroin transactions with both brothers. Undercover Investigators also purchased two handguns from the brothers. Detectives purchased in excess of five grams of Heroin from the brothers with the street value of $1000.00. One of the handguns purchased by Investigators was reported stolen from a residential break-in reported to the Sheriff’s Office earlier in the year.
Today Narcotics Investigators placed both brothers under arrest. Narcotics Detectives seized an additional amounty of Heroin and Methamphetamine from Marvin KongVongsay.
Marvin KongVongsay was charged with four counts of Sell/Deliver Heroin, five counts of PWISD Heroin, PWISD Methamphetamine, and Possession of a stolen firearm.
Sao KongVongxay was charged with Sell/Deliver Heroin and PWISD Heroin. Marvin received a $50.000.00 secured bond and Sao received a $15.000.00 secured bond.
The investigation is still on-going to determine if the brothers are responsible for other larcenies and potential residential break-ins in Iredell County. The one firearm that was reported stolen will be returned to the victim.
