Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on May 21, 2016 Deputy Caskaddon and Deputy Buzard were traveling North on Charlotte Highway when they saw a vehicle pass another vehicle on double yellow line in front of Shepard Elementary. When Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, it sped off traveling north and throwing an item out of the sunroof. Deputies continued the chase for a short distance where the vehicle pulled over at 1460 Charlotte Highway. After the vehicle pulled over and the driver was detained, Deputies found crack cocaine in his front pocket along with a large amount of cash. Deputies also found an open container of alcohol and other items that were seized. McCorkle was arrested and charged with Felony Possession of Schedule two, Felony Flee to Elude, Possession Drug Paraphernalia, Driving while license revoked, possession of open container of alcohol, passing double yellow line, and careless and reckless driving.
McCorkle was taken to the Magistrate’s office where he received a $12,000.00 dollar bond for his charges with a court date of 5/23/2016
