Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: Willie Junior Walker, 65, of 177 Tammy Lane, Mooresville, was arrested by Sheriff’s deputies on May 2, 2016 for two separate offenses of Assault on a Female as well as Interfering with Emergency Communications. Walker received a total bond of $15,500.00 for these offenses. Due to the charges being domestic violence in nature, Walker was given pretrial release conditions which ordered him to have no contact with the victim. Walker was advised by a Judicial Official not to have any contact with the victim.
The victim in the above cases also applied for a Domestic Violence Protection Order. The victim was granted a temporary Ex-parte ordering that Walker was to have no contact with her. Walker was served the Ex-Parte by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and advised not to contact the victim and if he was to do so he would be arrested.
The investigation was then forwarded to Det. Sgt. Katie Harwell of the Special Victims Unit for follow up investigation. Det. Harwell discovered that Walker had violated the Domestic Violence Protection order by calling the victim on May 2, 2016 after he had been served with the order. Det. Harwell obtained a warrant on Walker for the DVPO Violation. Walker was served the warrant on May 6th 2016 and was not given a bond due to it being a domestic charge. Walker went before a District Court Judge for his First Appearance on May 9th 2016 and received an additional bond of $30,000.00 making his new bond amount $45,500.00.
