Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On April 8, 2016 Deputy David Price of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit was contacted by officials at a local business in reference to Kevin Foster, a registered sex offender, being on social media. Foster was recently released from the Department of Corrections for a previous sex offender registry violation and is participating in a re-entry program. Part of the program involves Foster using the computers for job search purposes. Officials checked Foster’s search history after he finished using the computer for the day and observed there were several web sites he had been looking up that were questionable and not related to his job search.
Deputies initiated an investigation into Foster’s computer activity and discovered Foster had a Facebook profile which is prohibited for registered sex offenders. Foster also had not registered his on-line identifiers with the Sheriff’s Office. Based on his investigation, Deputy Price obtained warrants for Foster for Failing to Notify Online Identifiers and Sex Offender on a Prohibited Website. Foster was arrested on April 13, 2016 and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond. He is also being held at this time on a Parole Violation for the same incident.
