[ARCHIVED] Suspect's arrested Breaking and Entering and Larceny, Injury to Property, and unauthorized use.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, Deputies responded to 670 Tabor Road Olin, NC to a reported unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Once Deputies arrived on scene they learned from the victim that Daniel Lee Sherrill is a friend who was watching the house while she was out of town. The victim reported that while she was out of town Sherrill changed the door locks on all the doors to the home and kept a key. The victim reported that prior to her leaving town she drove Sherrill’s car and he had her car at his residence. Sherrill stated he contacted Smith to get her to bring his car back but she refused to do so.
The victim stated she noticed items missing from inside the house. Smith stated that Sherrill had stolen various items that he had previously given her as gifts to include jewelry, clothing, and various house hold supplies. The victim also reported that food items were stolen at the same time. The victim reported a total value of theft to be approximately $550.00. The victim also reported that a glass table was also broken inside the home.
Detectives interviewed Sherrill and he admitted to going over to the victim’s house and admitted to sending the victim text messages taunting her about him being at her house. Sherrill also admitted that he had a kept a key to the house after he changed the door locks.
On Thursday, March 3, 2016, Sherrill was arrested and charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Larceny after Breaking and Entering, and Injury to Personal Property. Sherrill was taken before Magistrate D. Chambers where he was given a $5,000.00 secured bond. Sherrill will have a pending court date in Statesville District Court.
Daniel Lee Sherrill also applied for a criminal summons against the victim in this matter. Christina Alaura Smith W/F 02-19-1995 of 670 Tabor Road Olin NC was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and she has a pending Court Date of 03-24-2016 in Statesville District Court.
