Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on February 18, 2016 at approximately 11:35 am Sgt. Leo Hayes with the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team (ACE Team) stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at the intersection of Mocksville Hwy and Bell Farm Rd. When Sgt. Hayes was speaking to the driver Mr. Jeremy Poole he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Sgt. Hayes then got Mr. Poole out of the vehicle but the passenger Mr. Kaelan Privette refused to exit the vehicle. Sgt. Hayes gave Mr. Privette several chances to exit the vehicle but he continued to not comply with the deputy’s commands. Mr. Privette was taken out of the vehicle where he began to resist Sgt. Hayes. Mr. Privette was placed in custody without further incident. Sgt. Hayes utilized his K9 partner “Danny” to search the vehicle which revealed 4.4 ounces of high grade Marijuana. After running the pistol’s serial number through NCIC it was learned that the pistol had been stolen out of a vehicle break-in in the city limits of Statesville. Mr. Privette and Mr. Poole were placed under arrest and transported to the Magistrates Office.
