[ARCHIVED] Suspect charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony larceny after breaking and entering.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that Deputies responded to a house Breaking and Entering where several electronics were stolen. The victim reported that he was renting the home from Britt Walden. The victim was in the hospital having a major surgery at the time the home was broken into and it was reported by a family member. At the time of the report it was unknown how entry was made into the house because no forced entry was made to any of the door nor windows.
Detectives began an investigation and obtained information from witnesses who observed Britt McDonald Walden at the home, around the time the items were stolen. In addition it was determined that Walden on a second occasion stole mail from the mailbox.
Detectives located Walden at his home on Shelton Ave and were able to recover a computer, and two tablets along with 19 separate pieces of mail that was taken from the mail box of the victim. Britt McDonald Walden was placed under arrest and at the time of his arrest he had some of the stolen mail in his back pants pocket.
Britt McDonald Walden has been charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering, and Misdemeanor Larceny. Walden received a $8,000.00 dollar secured bond set by Magistrate Pat Gaskins. Walden has a pending court date in Statesville District Court.
