Iredell County to Develop New Park
Statesville, NC – Iredell County Parks, Recreation and Facility Services Department announced today that have accepted a land donation of 19 acres on Deitz Road, from Iredell County Babe Ruth League. The property, formerly known as Sertoma Park will be combined with an additionally purchased 49 acres to form Jennings Park, the first county owned park north of Statesville.
Sertoma Park was a baseball complex, located at 141 Deitz Road, Statesville, NC consisting of 19.68 acres. The facility includes 3 lighted baseball fields, 1 unlit field, a clubhouse and a concessions stand with restroom facilities.
Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department, using funds from the sale of the originally designated North Iredell Park property located on Bussell Road in Olin, NC has now purchased 49 additional acres, adjacent to the newly donated land. These properties combined will serve as a new park, named Jennings Park.
Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department will host a public meeting on January 21, 2016 at 6:30 pm at Iredell Water Corporation, located at 571 Jennings Road, Statesville, NC 28625. The purpose of the meeting is to provide opportunity for community members to make suggestions and share ideas about future park amenities. Everyone is welcome.
