Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on December 13th, 2015 Deputy B. Best observed a silver Chevrolet Blazer with the driver slouched over at the wheel. The driver was later identified as Mr. Timothy Joseph Hill. Mr. Hill was stopped at a green light near the intersection of Morrison Plantation Parkway and Brawley School Rd. Deputy B. Best pulled to the side of the vehicle and observed that there were no cars in front of Mr. Hill’s vehicle. Deputy B. Best then moved his patrol vehicle behind Mr. Hill’s to observe Mr. Hill slumped over his steering wheel. Mr. Hill’s vehicle then rolled slowly into the intersection and swerved back and forth between lanes. Deputy B. Best then activated his blue lights and siren in an attempt to stop Mr. Hill’s vehicle. Mr. Hill’s vehicle continued moving forwards and, after a short time, drove onto the median towards oncoming traffic before returning to the correct lane. Mr. Hill then increased his vehicle’s speed and struck the center median again bouncing over a drainage grate before gradually slowing down again. Mr. Hill then turned into the left turn lane at the intersection of Brawley School Rd. and Canvasback Rd. before being stopped with the assistance of the Mooresville Police Department. Mr. Hill was taken into custody without incident and charged with Driving While Impaired, Failure to Yield to Blue Lights and Siren and Careless and Reckless Driving without due regard.
