Sheriff Darren Campbell stated That on May 4th 2015 a victim was granted a Domestic Violence Protection Order against John Mark Harrington. The Domestic Violence Protection Order against Harrington ordered him not to have any contact with the victim.
Prior to the victim taking out the Domestic Violence Protection Order against Harrington he had been arrested on 4-24-2014 by Deputy Carrol for assault on a female for punching the victim in the eye.
Upon Harrington being released from the Iredell County Jail he was given Pretrial Release Conditions that prohibited him from having contact with the victim.
In June of 2015 Harrington was arrested and taken back to jail for Violating the Domestic Violence Protection Order and Violating Pretrial Release Conditions by having contact with the victim.
Harrington’s court date was set for November 8th 2015.
On November 7th, 2015 Harrington called the victim in an attempt to work out a plea over the phone before the trial on the following day.
The victim made a report with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and the case was forwarded to Det. Sgt. Katie Harwell. Det. Harwell further investigated the incident and found Probable Cause that Harrington did violate the Domestic Violence Protective Order as well as Pretrial Release Conditions.
Det. Harwell obtained a warrant on Harrington for Violating the Domestic Violence Protection Order.
On 11-8-2015 Deputy Colton Neil located Harrington and arrested him. Deputy Neil took Harrington before a Magistrate at the Iredell County Jail where Harrington was given a bond of $120,000.00
