[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested for Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on October 30, 2015 Deputy Charles Davidson responded to 1895 Island Ford Rd. around 8:55 PM for a Domestic assault. Deputy Davidson spoke with the victim and discovered that she had been in a verbal argument with Christopher Davidson at their home.
The argument turned physical when Christopher forcibly struck the victim in her eye. The victim had noticeable swelling around her eye and it was already showing obvious bruising. The victim was able to call 911 and was later taken to the hospital by EMS and treated for her injury.
Deputy Davidson obtained a warrant for Baker for Assault Inflicting Serious Injury, and Christopher Baker was arrested and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $1500.00 bond.
The investigation was then forwarded to Det. Sgt. Katie Harwell of the Special Victims Unit for additional investigation. Detective Harwell discovered through the victim’s medical records that when Baker struck the victim in the eye that he caused a closed fracture to the orbital floor of her eye. Detective Harwell obtained a warrant for Christopher Baker for Felony Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury, due to the type of injury the victim received. Christopher was taken back into custody on November 3, 2015, arrested on the additional charges, given a $15,000 bond and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center.
