Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On September 20th 2015 a victim called 911 and reported that the father of her child assaulted her. Deputy Cody Jarvis responded to the call and due to evidence at the time of his investigation he arrested William Tyler Jarvis for Assault on a Female. William Jarvis had grabbed the victim by her arm to forcibly take a cell phone from her and left multiple dark bruises on her arm. The victim then left the residence and called 911. She stated that this was not the first time Jarvis had assaulted her.
The case was then forwarded to Det. Sgt. Katie Harwell of the Special Victims Unit for further investigation. Det. Harwell discovered that William Jarvis had two prior convictions of assault on a female. Jarvis was found guilty in September 2011 and again in December 2012 for these charges. With both of these offenses being in the past 15 years and the third offense resulted in an injury, Jarvis was eligible for Felony Habitual Misdemeanor Assault.
Det. Harwell obtained a warrant for Jarvis for Felony Habitual Misdemeanor Assault. He was arrested on October 7, 2015 and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $10,500.00 bond
