The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office recently received the 2022 Uniform Crime Report (UCR) Numbers from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. This report is considered a “Report Card” for law enforcement agencies.
The Uniform Crime Report numbers are usually a year behind due to the amount of time the state needs to compile all of this information.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office's Overall Crime Rate shows since 2014; crime has dropped by 55 percent. This rate is based on the total number of reported crimes committed in a population base of 100,000 citizens. The Violent Crime has decreased since 2014 by 14.7 percent, and Property Crime has decreased by 59.4 percent during the same time. In 2022, our Property Crime Report Clearance Rate was 70 percent.
Sheriff Campbell said, “The reasons for this significant decrease in crime year over year are numerous and include the continuation of targeting career and repeat criminals, taking a proactive stance on illegal drug sales, and being attentive to our community when citizens provide us with information. Our numerous community outreach programs and social media outlets are paying huge dividends in lowering crime rates and maintaining the trust we have built with our community here in Iredell County”.
