Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On August 7, 2015, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to 141 Fairlane Dr. in reference to a domestic assault in progress. Upon their arrival they discovered Ghenoa Elder on top of a vehicle. She had broken a window on the vehicle as well as windows inside the residence. Elder had also struck one subject with a metal garden rake in his chest and stomach. Deputy B.A. Henderson arrested Elder for Damage to Property and Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Elder was released from the detention center after posting a $6000.00 bond. Due to the Domestic nature of the incident, Elder was given Pretrial Release Conditions prohibiting her from having any type of contact with the victim until their case was disposed of in court.
On September 14, 2015 Det. Sgt. Katie Harwell with the Special Victim’s Unit observed Elder making contact with the victim in this case and violating the court order. After confirming the Pretrial Release Conditions were still in effect, Sgt. Harwell placed Elder under arrest for the violation. When Elder was taken before the Magistrate, her original $6000.00 bond was revoked and she was placed under a $50,000.00 bond.
