Think Globally, Act Locally!
Household products containing toxic chemicals can be a threat to people and the environment, if improperly discarded. Iredell County Solid Waste has been able to properly dispose of an average of 35,000 pounds of household hazardous materials each year by holding these events. We offer these collection events on the last Saturday of April and September every year. Never dispose of hazardous materials in the trash as they may harm your sanitation workers or result in a collection vehicle fire. It is also unsafe to pour HHW down a sink or storm drain as it will end up polluting our drinking water. Let’s keep Iredell County clean and safe.

Accepted Materials
Paint, paint thinner, gasoline, kerosene, gas/oil mixture, pool chemicals, rust/paint remover, mercury switches and thermometers, fluorescent bulbs, motor oil, anti-freeze, batteries, herbicides, pesticides, cleaners and solvents are some of the common items. There will be a Chemist on staff for identification of materials.
