[ARCHIVED] Son Arrested for Murder

Date/Time of Offense: Thursday, December 1, 2022.

 

Offense(s)/Charge(s): Murder.

 

Location of Incident: Parkertown Road, Troutman.

 

Suspect(s): Anthony Ryan Sharpe, 35 Years Old

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Thursday, December 1, 2022, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person. The report indicated that the missing person was last seen several days ago.

 

Information was received about several locations the person was known to frequent. When detectives went to an area off Parkertown Road, south of Troutman, they located a body that had been concealed. 

 

The area was secured, and Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene. Criminal Investigators and Crime Scene Investigators worked throughout the night at the crime scene. Items of evidence were collected at the scene.

 

The body was taken to North Carolina Baptist Hospital, where an autopsy was performed, and the victim’s identity was confirmed as Earnest Carter Sharpe Jr.

 

Based on multiple items of evidence obtained from the Parkertown Road Crime Scene, Homicide Investigators identified the victim’s son, Anthony Ryan Sharpe as a person of interest.  

 

Additional search warrants were obtained and executed at other locations during the investigation, and additional items of evidence were located and seized.

 

Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Investigators interviewed Anthony Ryan Sharpe on Friday, December 9, 2022. After reviewing all of the witness statements, crime scene evidence, and other items of evidence seized throughout this investigation, the investigators obtained a Felony Murder Warrant for Anthony Ryan Sharpe.

 

Sharpe was arrested on Friday, December 9, 2022, without incident. He was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was served with the Murder warrant. Sharpe appeared before Magistrate T. Thompson, who issued NO Bond on the warrant.
