NEWS RELEASE

Date/Time of Offence: Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

Offense(s)/Charge(s): Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill.                                          

Location of Incident:  Monte Vista Road, Statesville.

Suspect(s): Robert Michael DeYoung, 32 Years Old

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Wednesday, December 7, 2022, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies responded to a residence on Monte Vista Road, west of Statesville, in reference to a person having been stabbed. 

When the deputies arrived on the scene, they quickly located a male victim who had been stabbed. The victim identified Robert Michael DeYoung as the person who had stabbed him. DeYoung was still on the scene and was detained by the deputies.

When asked about the incident, DeYoung made a statement saying he had stabbed the victim with a pair of scissors which were located in the residence.  

Iredell County EMS transported the victim to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to receive emergency treatment.

Robert DeYoung was arrested without incident and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill. Magistrate S. Nicholson issued a 50,000.00 dollars secured bond on this charge.
