Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Friday, July 15, 2022, Road Patrol Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Amity Hill Road after the driver of the vehicle made an illegal U-turn, then attempted to avoid the deputies who were operating a license checking station.
After stopping the vehicle for the traffic violation, Deputy S. Rowe and Deputy N. Hodges spoke with the driver, Teona Bruner, and her passenger, Charod Terry. While speaking with the vehicle’s occupants, Deputy N. Hodges noticed Terry was acting suspiciously and placed his hands several times between his seat and the passenger door.
When asked to open the door and step out of the vehicle, Terry opened the passenger door of the vehicle. While stepping out the deputies saw a handgun where Terry had been seated, along with two plastic baggies.
Terry was detained by the deputies and a criminal records check on Terry determined he is a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Due to the concealed weapon and suspected narcotics, the deputies conducted a search of the vehicle. The two plastic bags contained “Crack” Cocaine which weighed more 14 grams. Both suspects were arrested without incident and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.
