[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested for Larceny of Chose in action

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on August 24, 2015 the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report from Statesville Brick Company in reference to the larceny of a payroll check from their premises. Detective Getz of the Economic Crime Unit was assigned the case. According to the issuing bank, the payroll check was cashed on August 20, 2015 at Peoples Bank, located in the Town of Catawba. Detectives were able to obtain video surveillance from Peoples Bank of the suspect cashing the check.
Based on the video surveillance received from Peoples Bank and statements from the employer, Sergeant Getz was able to identify the suspect as, Richard Todd Waugh, 42, of Statesville. Detectives then interviewed Waugh, who admitted to stealing the check from Statesville Brick Company and passing it at Peoples Bank. Detectives then obtained a warrant for Richard Waugh, for one count of Larceny of Chose in Action. Detectives also worked with the Town of Catawba Police Department where Mr. Waugh will be facing additional charges.
Richard Waugh was arrested on August 31, 2015 and processed at the Iredell County Detention Center. Mr. Waugh was placed under a $1,000.00 secured bond in the Iredell County Detention Center.
