Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Friday, November 5, 2021, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Deputy D. Souther conducted a traffic stop on Chevrolet Silverado truck at the intersection of Old Mountain Road and Buffalo Shoals Road for multiple traffic infractions.
Deputy Souther approached the truck and identified the driver as Gregory David Evans. One of the passengers then told Deputy Souther he was out on bond for selling Methamphetamine. Deputy Souther continued to ask Evans questions and asked if there was any illegal items in the truck, the occupants said no. Souther asked for consent to search the truck and it was granted by Evans.
A search of the truck located; 21.28 grams of Methamphetamine, a Ruger LC9, nine- millimeter handgun, entered as stolen from Anderson, South Carolina along with numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
Once the drugs were located and after questioning the suspects a second time, one of the suspects who originally identified himself as Curtis Moore, was positively identified as Christopher Brandon Propst. A criminal records check of Propst located 10 outstanding arrest warrants from numerous surrounding counties. The vehicle driver, Gregory David Evans, and the passenger Christopher Brandon Propst, were taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.
Gregory David Evans was charged with: Felony Possession with the Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Felony Harboring a Fugitive. Evans appeared before Magistrate Hollar who issued a 35,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.
Christopher Brandon Propst was charged with: Felony Possession with the Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and numerous outstanding arrest warrants. Magistrate Hollar issued Propst a 247,000.00 dollar secured bond.
