Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On August 18, 2015, Deputy D. C. Price of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit attempted to verify a valid address for Branden Lowell Benson, a registered sex offender. Deputy Price had been unable to locate Benson at 148 Carriage Rd. Through further investigation, Deputy Price discovered Benson had been living in the woods in Hickory, NC, but had failed to report that he was no longer living at Carriage Lane, which is required by law. Deputy Price arrested Benson for failure to notify change of address. Benson was taken before the magistrate and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $150,000 bond. Benson is also pending court on a 2014 Second Degree Rape charge in Catawba County.
