Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: A Statesville man was arrested, and charged with Felony Possession of Cocaine after a traffic stop on Turnersburg Highway. Jose Israel Lopez Flores Jr. was arrested after Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Deputies found Flores to be in possession of over 25 grams of Cocaine.
Deputy C. Wilson conducted the traffic stop at approximately 1:00 am Saturday morning on Turnersburg Highway at the intersection of Jane Sowers Road after he observed a traffic violation.
When Deputy C. Wilson approached the vehicle, he smelled the odor of an alcohol coming from the driver as well as the interior of the vehicle.
Deputy N. Hodges arrived on scene to assist with the traffic stop as there were three individuals in the vehicle. Based on other evidence gathered during the stop, a search of the vehicle was conducted. The deputies located the package of powder Cocaine in the front passenger area near where Flores was seated. Deputies also located Marijuana, and other items of drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Jhonathan Morales was cited for Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia. Yoni Chavez was cited for Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia and left from the scene.
Jose Israel Lopez Flores Jr., was arrested on scene, and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with: Felony Possession of Cocaine, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia. Flores appeared before Magistrate J. Hollar who issued a 10,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.
