[ARCHIVED] Statesville man charged with multiple felony crimes related to a stolen vehicle.

Location of Incident: 876 Old Mountain Road, Statesville.

 

Suspect(s): Andrew Steven Coleman, 33 Years Old

                    126 Falling Leaf Lane

                    Statesville, North Carolina 28677

 

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On August 12, 2021, Road Patrol Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a business on Old Mountain Road in reference to a larceny of a motor vehicle report. 

While deputies were on scene, they discovered the vehicle had been dropped off at the business the night before by the owner. When the deputies interviewed the owner, they learned there was also a firearm inside of the vehicle. Witnesses near the scene were located and also interviewed. While canvassing the area, a dirt bike was located in a wooded area the business which was identified as having been stolen from a nearby residence on the same night. Detective P. Irwin was assigned to investigate the cases. 

On Thursday, August 19, 2021, the stolen vehicle was located in Surry County at an exit off of Interstate 77. Detective Irwin was able to process the vehicle recovering several items of evidence. The vehicle was then returned to the owner.

Based on the evidence located in the vehicle, Detective Irwin was able to identify Andrew Steven Coleman, and obtained felony warrants on Coleman.

Andrew Steven Coleman was arrested on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. He was taken to the Iredell County Detention center where he was served with the following warrants: Felony Breaking and Entering to a Motor Vehicle, Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny of a Firearm, Misdemeanor Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and 

Misdemeanor Failure to Appear. He appeared before Magistrate T. Thompson who issued a 31,000.00 dollar secured bond.

 31,000.00 DOLLARS SECURED BOND.

Criminal history: Seven Counts of Misdemeanor Larceny, Flee to Elude Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Goods, Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
