Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Deputy D. Joyce was patrolling the area of Charlotte Highway near Mooresville. Deputy Joyce witnessed a vehicle commit a traffic offense near Shepherd Road and stopped the vehicle. Deputy Joyce approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Ricky Leo Frenette. Deputy N. Hodges came to assist Deputy Joyce with the traffic stop, and deployed Canine “Levi” who indicated on the odor of a controlled substance inside the vehicle.
The deputies performed a search of the vehicle. Inside they located 3.9 Grams of Methamphetamine, Cocaine, six Methadone tablets, 3.7 Grams of Psilocybin Mushrooms, along with multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
Rickey Leo Frenette was arrested on scene, then transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with: Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for the Sale or Use of an Illegal Substance, Felony Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance (Psilocybin “Hallucinogenic” Mushrooms), Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Cocaine, Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Methadone Tablets), and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Magistrate H. Callejas issued a 7,500.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.
