Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on 8-18-15 Lt. C.L. Stone of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team observed Shannon Snook, 35, of Statesville sitting in the driver’s seat of a 2005 Suzuki in the parking lot of Food Lion on Davie Ave. As soon as Stone parked his patrol car Snook exited the vehicle and walked inside Food Lion. A check of Snook’s name revealed that he had a felony warrant for larceny of a motor vehicle.
Sgt. R.T. Sherrill, whom was already on scene, then walked inside Food Lion to locate Snook while Stone stood by with the passenger. During this time Stone checked the vehicle’s registration and discovered that the vehicle was entered as stolen. Sgt. Sherrill located Snook inside the store and after telling him several times to place his hands behind his back was eventually able to place him in handcuffs. After placing him in handcuffs Sgt. Sherrill located crack cocaine in Snook’s pants pocket. A search of the vehicle resulted in locating other items known to be drug paraphernalia. Snook was then transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he received a $36,000 bond.
Snook was already out on bond. The vehicle was returned to its owner.
