Dragowski with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team was patrolling in western Iredell County in the the area of Lookout Dam Road and Island Ford Road, when he noticed a motorcycle on the side of the road near a “No Trespassing” sign.

Deputy Dragowski ran the registration plate on the motorcycle. I was quickly determined the tag came back to a different motor cycle, and according to the vehicle identification number on the bike, it was entered as stolen by the Lenoir Police Department in Caldwell County.

A man was located nearby who claimed the motorcycle, after speaking briefly with Deputy Dragowski, the man ran into the woods. A search of the area was conducted, locating a driver’s license which matched the description of the suspect who had fled, along with a small amount of methamphetamine. A criminal records check on the suspect’s driver’s license indicated, Emmitt Steven Loges of Taylorsville, had multiple outstanding felony warrants in Iredell, and Alexander Counties.

Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Canine Deputy N. Hodges was called to the scene along canine “Sadie”. “Sadie” was deployed in an attempt to locate a track of the suspect. A track was quickly located. While the canine team were actively tracking the suspect, calls were received from community members about sighting of the suspect. After tracking Loges for over a mile and a half, he was apprehended, and arrested in a wheat field inside a perimeter which additional deputies had established to contain the suspect.

Loges was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with: Felony Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Second Degree Trespass and Misdemeanor Resist, Obstruct, or Delay of a Public Officer.
