Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 12:58 am, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a burglary in progress at 498 Hill Farm Road in Northwestern Iredell County.
The victim reported someone was trying to break into the house through the garage door. When the responding deputies arrived, they secured the scene and searched the area for the suspect who had fled the area.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to gather evidence and witness statements. Detectives were able to view video footage from Pisgah United Methodist Church which caught the suspect, along with the suspect’s vehicle. A photo of the suspect and a vehicle were obtained.
The vehicle was determined to be a 2010 or 2011 teal Toyota Camry. Photos of the vehicle and suspect were distributed on both the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, and Alexander County Sheriff’s Office Facebook pages.
Detectives followed up on information received from witnesses which identified the suspect in the video as Corey Allan Richardson of Wilkes County.
Based on the evidence gathered throughout the investigation, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Detective Melody Jennings was able to apply for and receive a Felony Arrest Warrant for First Degree Burglary on Corey Richardson.
Corey Allan Richardson was served with the warrant on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. He was given a 15,000.00 dollar secured bond by Magistrate W. Burke. Richardson is currently being detained in the Wilkes County Detention Facility.
