Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: Another arrest stemming from a month’s long investigation into the distribution of heroin and prescription pills in Western Iredell County was made on Thursday August 13, 2015.
Timothy Jay Smith of Daniel Court was charged with six counts of Trafficking Opium or Heroin after he sold prescription pills on various occasions to undercover detectives of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigation Unit.
When deputies served the arrest warrants on Smith at his residence, they also located a handgun in the home. Due to Timothy Smith being a convicted felon, the weapon was seized.
Smith was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was served with the six original charges, and was also charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He was placed under 300,000.00 secured dollars bond. Smith is on probation out of Florida for Robbery, Aggravated Battery and Burglary of a Conveyance.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrested are anticipated to come from this operation. “This is an example of my office continuing to target repeat and violent offenders who are still living and operating in our community”.
