Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On, Sunday, January 3, 2021deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Scotts Creek Road and Old Wilkesboro Road, north of Statesville, for a traffic violation.
After approaching the vehicle the deputies spoke with both individuals in the vehicle, Eugenio Mata Carbajal, and Amanda Christine Wolowitz. After speaking with Carbajal about the traffic violation, the deputies determined Eugenio Carbajal’s driver’s license was revoked.
Based on additional evidence, the deputies conducted a search the vehicle, and located three individual plastic bags of Crystal Methamphetamine.
Carbajal and Wolowitz were arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where they were charged with: Felony Possession with Intent to Sale or Deliver Methamphetamine, Felony Maintain a Vehicle for Sale or Use of Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Carbajal also received additional charges of Driving While License Revoked, Reckless Driving, and Speeding. Carbajal and Wolowitz appeared before Magistrate T. Thompson who issued Carbajal a 50,000.00 dollar secured bond, and Wolowitz a 7,500.00 secured bond on these charges.
