Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Wednesday, October 7, 2020, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputy N.G. Hodges observed a black Honda Accord driving on Highway 64 near the Iredell & Alexander County Line.
The vehicle was being driven by Tara Sha Barnes. From earlier interactions with Barnes, Deputy Hodge knew her driver’s license was suspended. Deputy Hodge conducted a vehicle stop.
While approaching the car, Deputy Hodges observed Barnes shove something into her pants. While speaking with Barnes, she was extremely nervous. Deputy Hodge called for a female deputy to respond to assist him with the investigation.
After a search of Tara Barnes was conducted, six ounces of Methamphetamine, in six separate, clear plastic baggies, were located.
Tara Sha Barnes was arrested on scene, and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where she was charged with: Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for the Sale or Use of a Controlled Substance, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, and Misdemeanor Driving While License Revoked. While processing the arrest paperwork, it was discovered Barnes had an outstanding Order for her Arrest for a previous Driving While License Revoked charge. Magistrate T. Thompson issued a 31,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.
