Sheriff Darren Campbell stated On Sunday, September 13, 2020, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team were patrolling on Interstate 77 North in the area of Mile Marker 65, when deputies conducted a traffic stop of a rented Nissan sedan with New Jersey Registration for traffic violations.
Upon approaching the vehicle deputies spoke with the driver, Justin Ross, who stated he was traveling from Atlanta, Georgia to Brooklyn, New York. Upon further investigation, a search of the vehicle was conducted by the deputies.
The search located dosage units of MDMA “Ecstasy” as well as four handguns concealed in a shoe box in the rear floor board of the vehicle. One of the handguns located one was reported stolen out of the state of Georgia.
All of the evidence was seized, and Ross was arrested on scene. He was then transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with; Felony Possession of MDMA, Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Gun, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Ross appeared before Magistrate S. Watkins who issued Ross a 10,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.
