The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Citizen Academy is a community-oriented program, designed to provide interested citizens with quality interactive training regarding law enforcement activity in Iredell County.
Topics of Discussion
During each session, a wide variety of topics will be discussed including but not limited to:
- History and duties of the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.
- Detention Center Operations.
- Various Units within the sheriff's office.
- Hands on experience with training equipment
Unit Presentations
Members from the various units within the sheriff's office will available to discuss agency activities, and programs such as criminal investigations, narcotics trends and identification, crime scene processing and many others. Students tour the Iredell County Detention Center, and the Iredell County Sheriff's Office Training Center.
They will be able to experience the firearms simulator, and see and handle various pieces of equipment used by the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (SERT) and the K-9 Units. After graduation from the course, students are given the opportunity to go on a ride-along with a patrol deputy.
Anyone interested in attending the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy must be at least 18 years of age and, must pass the sheriff's office criminal history check. For more information on the course please contact the Crime Prevention Unit at 704-878-3180.
