Fire Marshal's Office

The Iredell County Fire Marshal's Office was formed in 1973. Through the use of a few national standards and local ordinances, the Fire Marshal was charged with improving public safety by promoting the control of fire hazards.

In 1991, North Carolina adopted and put into law it’s own North Carolina State Fire Prevention Code. This code has been in effect since then and is enforced all over the State. With the exception of the cities of Statesville and Mooresville, we are the code enforcement authorities in Iredell County.

Over the years, many job tasks and functions have been added to our responsibilities. Some of these include:
  • Building Standards Division (Inspections, Permits, Plans Review)
  • Emergency Management
  • Fire Data Collection
  • Fire Department Training
  • Fire Education / Prevention / Safety Training
  • Fire Investigation
  • Technical Advisors for Various Boards/Committees
