Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, May 10, 2020 the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to 275 Garden Valley Road to investigate a house fire.

When the deputies arrived, they learned from members with the Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Department, someone had set an intentional fire under the home. As the criminal investigation began, deputies determined there had been a domestic disturbance call at the residence the night before between Christopher Lee Walker, and his girlfriend, resulting in the homeowner asking both of them to leave.

Detective J. Adams along with a Crime Scene Investigator were called to the scene. Detective Adams was able to speak to the victim and several other witnesses as the Crime Scene Investigator collected evidence from the fire scene.

Detective Adams was advised by the victim, she woke up in the early morning hours on May 10, 2020 to the smell of plastic burning. The victim got out, and located the fire in the crawl space of the home and called 911. Upon further investigation, Detective Adams was able to identify the suspect as, Christopher Lee Walker. There was evidence gathered to support Walker going under the residence and starting the fire while the victim, and a family member, were sleeping inside the residence.

Christopher Lee Walker was arrested on Sunday, May 10, 2020. He was taken to Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with Felony First Degree Arson. Walker appeared before Magistrate S. Watkins who issued a 100,000.00 dollars secured bond in this case.
